Christopher Townsend Motorsports
Christopher started racing junior sprints at the early age of 7 years old in 2015. He took to it like a natural and over the next two years managed to earn 10 career wins in the junior sprint division. Advancing into the restricted micro sprint division, he found himself in victory lane often, continuing his success and earning the respect of many competitors with 17 restricted micro sprint wins to his name.
In 2019, Christopher partnered with Frank Galusha and joined his driver development program. This opportunity granted him the chance to compete in outlaw micro sprints on a national level, traveling throughout the Midwest with the POWRi series for two seasons. Those hard-fought years resulted in 6 Top 10 finishes, 2 Top 5 finishes, and the 2020 Rookie of the Year Award with the POWRi Engler Machine and Tool 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint League.
While finishing out the 2020 season in outlaw micro sprints, Christopher and his team were simultaneously building a full-size 305-powered sprint car in preparation for 2021. The car happened to be completed just in time for one final race at his home track, 105 Speedway. October 31, 2020, became a night to remember as Christopher shocked the racing community by winning his first-ever full-size sprint car race in his debut appearance.
His success with the Southern United Sprints continued into 2021, earning 5 Top 10 finishes, 4 Top 5 finishes, and 1 feature win. Those accomplishments were enough to secure a second-place finish in season points and earn Rookie of the Year honors. Carrying that momentum into 2022, Christopher completed his final season in a 305 sprint car with 7 Top 10 finishes, 3 Top 5 finishes, and 2 feature wins. He also made the jump into a 360-powered sprint car during 2022, competing in select events with the Hurricane Area Super Sprints and the American Sprint Car Series.
With the help of sponsors and family, a major leap both financially and competitively became possible, and a full-time 2023 ASCS National Tour campaign became a reality. Christopher’s rookie season on the national stage resulted in 5 Top 10 finishes, 2 Top 5 finishes, and a podium finish with a career-best 3rd-place result.
The beginning of the 2024 season brought one of the biggest opportunities of Christopher’s career when he made his debut at the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals. Unfortunately, his preliminary night ended early after being involved in a violent accident that resulted in a broken back. What was supposed to be a breakthrough season quickly became a year focused on recovery and rehabilitation. Christopher spent much of 2024 healing from his injuries and working tirelessly to return to the driver’s seat. Despite the setback, his determination never wavered, and he was able to make a limited number of starts toward the end of the season as he continued his recovery journey.
After the long-awaited healing process, Christopher entered the 2025 season determined to make up for lost time. Motivated by the adversity he had overcome, he returned to competition stronger than ever and quickly found his way back to victory lane. The season proved to be the most successful of his career, producing 7 feature wins, 10 Top 5 finishes, and 14 Top 10 finishes. His performance throughout the year showcased not only his talent behind the wheel but also his resilience, work ethic, and passion for the sport.
As Christopher continues to climb the sprint car racing ladder racing 360’s and 410’s, his future remains bright. With the unwavering support of his family, dedicated crew members, loyal sponsors, and fans, he remains committed to chasing victories and competing at the highest levels of sprint car racing. Together, they look forward to building on past success and pursuing even greater accomplishments in the years to come.
